An Aviation School Built Around One Thing: Making Pilots

Aviation school, flight academy, pilot school — whatever you call it, the question is the same: will this place actually get you into the air, on schedule, at the price they quoted? Here is how we answer that at Van Nuys.

What we teach

What a real aviation school covers

A complete aviation education is four things at once. Airmanship: the stick-and-rudder skill built one lesson at a time in real aircraft. Knowledge: airspace, weather, regulations, navigation and systems, taught in ground school on real LA charts. Judgment: the decision-making that separates old pilots from bold ones, coached by instructors with thousands of hours. And currency: the simulators, stage checks and reviews that keep all three sharp.

We teach the full ladder on one ramp — sport pilot through airline-ready — in a fleet that runs from the Cessna 162 Skycatcher to the Piper Seminole twin, with two FAA-approved Redbird MCX full-motion simulators doing the expensive repetition at a fraction of aircraft cost.

What we are not: a degree mill or a classroom-first academy where you wait months to touch an airplane. Students fly from week one, because airmanship is learned in the air — and because Los Angeles weather lets us fly nearly every day of the year.

In practice, nothing — aviation school, flight school, flight academy and pilot school all describe FAA-supervised training operations. What differs is quality: fleet, instructors, pricing honesty and scheduling.

Certificates run $8,400 (sport) to $22,500 (premium private). Career programs to airline-ready run about $89,000 with financing available.

No — and neither do the airlines anymore. Certificates, ratings and hours are the currency of an aviation career.

Please do — the in-person consultation is free: tour the fleet, sit in the simulator, meet instructors, and leave with a training plan.

Our teen course starts at 10, solo at 16, private certificate at 17 — and there is no upper age limit for learning to fly.
