Why it varies

Why One Academy Quotes $70,000 And Another Quotes $100,000

Academy prices differ because they include different things. Some include housing; some include more flight hours; some stop at Commercial while others include instructor ratings. Some quote the FAA minimum hours and bill extras later.

The fairest comparison is total price for a defined outcome. Ours: the Airline Pilot Course is $89,000 fixed for zero time to Commercial with Instrument, Multi-Engine, CFI, CFII and MEI, with 260 logged hours.

For a single certificate, our Standard Private Pilot Program is $10,900 for 40 logged hours, including aircraft, instructor, ground school, simulator and books. The Comprehensive ($15,900, 60 hours) and Premium ($22,500, 80 hours) packages exist for students who want the extra hours already paid for.

FAQ

Flight Academy Cost: Questions

How much does a flight academy cost?

It depends on what is included. At LA Flight School the Airline Pilot Course from zero time to Commercial with Instrument, Multi-Engine, CFI, CFII and MEI is $89,000 fixed. A Private Pilot certificate alone starts at $10,900.

Is a flight academy more expensive than a flight school?

Not necessarily. Compare total price for the same outcome. Academies often bundle more ratings or housing; schools often price each certificate separately.

What is not included in flight academy cost?

Ask about checkride examiner fees, written test fees, headsets, medical exams and housing. Examiner fees are paid to the examiner, not the school.

Can I finance flight academy costs?

Yes. We offer financing through Stratus Financial with terms up to 15 years and down payments from $2,500, plus an interest-free in-house plan arranged with the school.
