The Private Pilot Certificate allows you to fly single-engine aircraft during the day and night, carry passengers, and travel anywhere in the United States under Visual Flight Rules. You must be at least 17 years old and able to read, speak, write, and understand English to obtain your certificate. Before starting the private pilot course, you must meet certain prerequisites, such as holding a valid medical certificate.

Real-World Application Training flights take you to airports throughout Southern California, giving you experience with different runway configurations, air traffic control procedures, and flying environments. You’ll learn how to talk to air traffic control as part of your radio communications training. You’ll navigate around Class B airspace at LAX, practice at towered and non-towered airports, and experience the diverse flying conditions that make Southern California such an excellent training environment.
